MINUTES OF MEETING HELD AT 6.30PM
THURSDAY 3 JULY 2025

1. PUBLIC FORUM
Mrs Townend mentioned vehicles speeding through the village. DF had an update regarding the Community Speedwatch equipement. There has been a delivery problem and DF now needs to be re-order the equipment. He added that Police Officers had been on duty in the village today and stopped 6 vehicles for speeding.
Mrs Townend mentioned the trees on the green in Townhill Lane which are in need of trimming.
ACTION: LM to contact ELDC regarding tree maintenance as the land belongs to them.

4. MINUTES OF PREVIOUS MEETING
The Minutes of the meeting held on 12 June 2025 were agreed as correct, therefore DF signed them as such.
5. MATTERS ARISING
Awaiting a response from the clerk of Horsington Parish Council, who is on holiday, regarding the white gates for village boundaries.
AP has spoken to the new head of Highways and reported the potholes in Platts Lane (road and pavement), road condition and state of the signs.
6. PLANNING APPLICATION 02461/25/FUL
DF read aloud an email received from a resident who has concerns regarding parking as currently residents of this address park on the verges, making visibility difficult. DF pointed out that Highways had offered no objections.
A vote was taken and it was unanimously decided to remain Neutral regarding this application.
ACTION: LM to notify ELDC of the Parish Council’s decision and to asvise the resident to register her concerns with ELDC.
7. PLAYSAFETY INSPECTION
Will take place during August 2025 at a cost of £80 plus VAT.
8. SAFEGUARDING
No issues reported.
9. FOODBANK
No customers at the moment.
10. ANY OTHER BUSINESS
DH brought up the fact that a resident of Chestnut Avenue has been setting bonfires late at night. There is CCTV footage available showing fires burning at 2254 hrs. Plastic and tyres appear to be alight.
ACTION: LM will forward CCTV footage to ELDCEnvironmental Health with a message.
Short discussion regarding trees at the rear of the same address on Chestnut Avenue. They are encroaching onto garages of the houses behind and becoming dangerous. It was agreed that the affected residents should approach the owner of the trees if not already done so. If that fails to yield results, they should approach ELDC for advice.
SA mentioned cars parking on the pavement combined with overgrown hedges along Platts Lane which means that the footway is impassable with a mobility scooter.
ACTION: LM to email ELDC and ask that this problem be forwarded to the relevant department.
The date of the next meeting was set for 6.00pm on Thursday 17 July 2025 in the church as the Village Hall is booked.
