MINUTES OF EXTRAORDINARY GENERAL MEETING

OF BUCKNALL PARISH COUNCIL

HELD AT 6.30PM WEDNESDAY 29 JUNE 2022

PRESENT:    Mr D Mills (Vice-Chair); Mrs L Mills (Clerk); Mr J Poole; Mrs J Moreton; Mr D Wilkinson; Mrs S Adams; Mr J Moore; Mr S Perry

1.    APOLOGIES:     Mr D Forman (Chair)

2.    FINANCIAL RETURN TO AUDITORS

The purpose of the meeting was to approve the completion of the Certificate of Exemption as an authority that has annual turnover of less than £25,000.  LM circulated the forms that had been completed, along with a copy of the Parish Council’s account which had previously been agreed at the AGM.  All agreed that the forms had been completed correctly and were happy for them to be submitted.

ACTION: LM to submit the forms to the auditors and upload the Certificate of Exemption to the Parish Council website.

3.    SAFEGUARDING

There has been one referral from Age Concern.  The individual concerned has been contacted and a grocery delivery has been made.

4.    ANY OTHER BUSINESS

It was proposed that lamppost poppies be purchased for the village, for use during the Remembrance period.  The cost of the poppies is £3.00 each, including cable ties.  It was suggested that 12 poppies be purchased.  A discussion took place and it was unanimously agreed to purchase the poppies.

ACTION: LM to contact the British Legion representative to order 12 poppies.

UPDATE: The poppies were originally believed to be double-sided, but it has been confirmed that they are single.  Therefore, Councillors were canvassed and it was agreed to purchase 24 poppies so that they can be visible from both sides of the lampposts.  Updated cost £72.00.

DW asked whether ELDC could be contacted regarding a recycling lorry which shed some of its load in Platts Lane approximately 2 weeks previously.  Rubbish had been left strewn all along the road.

ACTION: LM to contact ELDC with a request that more care is taken.

There being no further business, the meeting closed at 6.18 pm.
