The ruins of Tupholme Abbey, which was. built around the same time as St. Margaret's Church, lies approximately 2 miles west of Bucknall. It is one of only a few medieval abbeys with standing remains of the original monastic buildings. It is a good picnic spot and is on several walking routes throughout the county.
